This app focuses on training users how and when to use epinephrine appropriately via the use of virtual case-based scenarios. Within these scenarios is an interactive decision tree support feature which allows users to pick out symptoms and then provides an appropriate next step in treatment (either antihistamine or epinephrine). The decisions are based on the latest anaphylaxis management criteria from the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, World Allergy Organization, and the American College of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology. The app’s decision tree support feature creates a novel interactive learning environment that allows for repetition and presentation of life-like scenarios to be practiced by users. This “drill-like” situation provides the necessary feedback and allows users to learn from their failures in a safe environment and nurtures the skills to successfully manage real life anaphylactic events. Also included are educational resources on anaphylaxis, epinephrine autoinjector instructional videos, and an epinephrine autoinjector check in feature that allows study leaders to send notifications to subjects asking them to check in as a means of monitoring epinephrine autoinjector carriage.
